CABINET CARE AND CLEANING

Cleaning Guidelines to Keep Your Cabinets Looking Beautiful

Don't allow spills and splatters to sit! Regular dusting and cleaning can help maintain the beauty of your cabinets by following these recommendations. White River Cabinetry has evolved into one of the most unique and largest creators of custom cabinetry in Urbandale, IA.

Basic Care for Wood Finish

  • Spills - Clean spills and splatters immediately with a damp cloth and mild soap. Wipe dry with a clean, soft cloth
  • Dusting - Use a soft, lint-free cloth for regular dusting. You can dampen the cloth slightly with water or a spray- type dust remover
  • Polishing - We recommend that you clean and polish cabinets at least once each year. Apply a light coat of quality furniture polish

Things to Avoid While Cleaning Your Cabinets

  • Don't use any type of abrasive cleaning products like soap pads or steel wool
  • Avoid the use of polishes or paste wax that contains silicone. These products cause wax build up that is difficult to remove. The resulting residue tends to attract dust

Thermofoil Cabinets

Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the exterior and interior surfaces of the door. For cleaning tough stains, we recommend dampening a soft cloth with Simple Green or a Formula 409 type product.

Mullion Glass Doors

Clean the glass with any commercial glass cleaner. The glass can be cleaned while mounted on the door. While cleaning mounted glass, be careful not to damage the finish of the door and cabinet parts.

Don't spray glass cleaner directly into glass or cabinet parts. Glass cleaner can seep into areas behind the mullions and may cause the wood to discolor. Instead, spray a small amount of cleaner onto a lint-free cloth or paper towel and wipe the glass.

Remember, proper initial care and maintenance will insure a lifetime of beauty and enjoyment of your new cabinets.
